MINUTES OF THE BOARD OF ASSESSORS

1. Acceptance of Minutes
Motion was made by Beverly Potvin Kenniston, and seconded by James Dillon. It was voted to approve the minutes of April 25, 2011 meeting.
2. Miscellaneous Items
The Principal Assessor attended the Vision Appraisal Software Users Group meeting on May 11 and 12, 2011. Vision Appraisal has changed its name to Vision Government Solutions, Inc. Several changes are in the works and new services are being offered including cloud computing hosting services to clients. The new version 7 software will be available in 2012. The cost to convert is estimated at between $3500 to $5000. More information will be available within the coming months. Vision is working on re-inventing the mobile devices to make them smaller and more user friendly that previous devices.
The assessors have begun the process of preparing for the FY2012 Preliminary Tax Bills. New construction is being revisited and percent of completion is being checked and updated for the July 1 completion date. Personal Property values have been updated after reviewing True Forms of List and visual inspections. Chapter Land 61 and 61A use categories have been updated based upon productivity based soil ratings established and recommended by the Department of Revenue for use.
Interviews for the Part-time Senior Clerk position in the Assessors’ Office were conducted on May 5 and May 9. The job has been offered to a candidate subject to Town Manager approval.
The assessors discussed town meeting warrant articles. This board meeting will adjourn to attend the Adjourned Annual Town Meeting at WRHS Auditorium.
Our next meeting will be held on Monday, June 20, 2011 at 3:00 P.M.
